Franchise4Development

Franchise4Development (F4D) links African migrant entrepreneurs in the Netherlands to Dutch Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), with the aim of setting up new (production) companies together in Africa, that fit well with the local markets.

Many Dutch SMEs make products that are extremely useful (or could be) in Africa, but the African market often remains unknown to them and is simply not on their radar, while these emerging economies make up almost 50 percent of the total worldwide economic growth. Next to that there are many Africans in the Netherlands willing to set up a business in their country of origin, but are not yet sure how. They do not have access to technology and/or finance. F4D takes on the challenges to connect SMEs and African diaspora to each other.

F4D has four concrete advantages:

  1. Sustainable resettlement of migrant entrepreneurs in their country of origin
  2. Expansion of the Dutch business sector into promising market segments in Africa
  3. Sustainable employment growth for young people and start-ups in Africa
  4. Reduction of immigration due to the creation of new companies and jobs in Africa
